Introduction :
For modeling, animation, rendering and other 3D activities, I use Maya and for sculpting and paint effect I mostly use Mudbox, sometimes Zbrush as well. my composition is firstly breakdown into multiple layers like diffuse, specular, reflectivity, z-depth, ambient occlusion, and some times glow layer when required. these render passes are done separately in maya batch render. Now its time to After effect for post effects and composition; Apple Shake is also very best but it requires lots of memory but with much better result. Photoshop, Illustrator is used for texture designing, painting, and editing. deep paint is also a very powerful tool for projection painting with high res textures like 2k, 3k or above. Motion Builder is very complex in my view for beginners but its really a awesome and great tool for animation specially character animation.
These softwares I mostly used in my work. My favorite Software is Autodesk Maya. I have Intel Core2Quad 8600 processor with 4GB of RAM and 9600GT graphics card.
